A little more of my backyard

Hi everyone, my good friends Ron and Irene have now gone home after spending a week with me,while they were here Ron got stuck into my back over grown fernery pulled weeds, dead pot plants(lack of water) hidden by over grown Arum lillies, all dug up, now a few empty pots to re plant. Thats all for now ill be around to visit you all soon as I can

Now a few photo's of Ron and Irene in the garden.. Click to enlarge photo's

Ron's first job
this is the stag Ron is hosing
First job of the day
this stag about 5 years old and my 1st attempt at planting a stag using a hanging basket to form a ball, took the three of us to rehang,it was hanging from a well worn chain ,Ron and Irene lifted it while I put a new hook into basket then was all able to lift to hook over beam preparing to start this section of the fernery
Ron hard at work
and again

THE POSITIVE SIDE OF LIFE:
Living on Earth is expensive,
but it does include a free trip
around the sun every year.
=============
How long a minute is
depends on what side of the
bathroom door you're on.
Birthdays are good for you;
the more you have,
the longer you live.
=============
Happiness comes through doors you
didn't even know you left open.
====================
Ever notice that the people who are late
are often much jollier
than the people who have to wait for them?
==============
A truly happy person is one who
can enjoy the scenery on a detour.

I'm wondering which part of Melbourne your friends live at, Jeanette? Anywhere near me? If so,would they like a job?? LOL. We nearly lost our 50 year old staghorn in the drought, but it seems to have come on again after the recent rain.
Thank you for your encouraging comment about my soapbox!

Your garden is looking really good.

And how nice that Ron is such a help. You seem to put him to work every time he and Irene make a visit. That's nice. My friends don't think I need any help except my car friend would help me on my old car if I let him.

That Houston Chronicle is a bummer.
Our local paper is as expensive and doesn't have nearly as much news.

I always wondered why people who aren't late aren't as happy as us late people? Maybe they get unhappy getting there so punctual?

Hi Jeannette,

That is a very nice garden you have there, and that stag horn is only five years old? Wow, you have a very green thumb.

Oh my dear! With your friends gone and the work mostly done - wouldn't you like to adopt me? What a beautiful back yard. I've never seen a staghorn fern that large in my life!! Amazing.

Lovely pictures. My stag horns are quite large as well. We have them mounted on a board that is nailed to a post.

Dear Jan ~~ Your garden looks wonderful, as always and how nice of Ron and Irene to work in it. They are the sort of friends we all need.
I am sure you repaid them with your hospitality. They wouldn't come back
if you didn't.
Is Thursday still OK with you ? I really wouldn't mind if you want to eave it till after Christmas.
Take care, Love, Merle.

Oh geez, I am getting tired only by reading this garden work !!
I came back from Egypt on Friday evening and have now the blues. Our holidays have been so wonderful and seemed so short. From 30°C I sit now in - 2° isn't that awful ??

I need to order a set of friends like yours. If you say weeds or gardening here, people leave in a hurry. Your fernery looks great and I have never tried growing a stag fern but yours makes me want to try.
Peace

Your garden is beautiful. I didn't realize that you are in a nearly tropical area. I miss the warm weather of Hawaii we were in just three weeks ago. Now we are approaching winter here in northwest Washington State.

Your list of some of the positive side of life is a good read, too.
